Our Application Process

Bard Baltimore is a Baltimore City Public School. To be considered for admission to our school, your student must go through our separate admissions process as well as rank us on their high school choice application. Bard Baltimore admits students through a qualitative application process that includes an interview and a writing assessment. Bard Baltimore seeks students who demonstrate academic ambition and intellectual curiosity. This year, we are recruiting 125 students for our 9th grade class and a select number of transfer students into grades other than ninth.

  • By February, our open house events have concluded and students can begin the application process by filling out our interest form. After a student completes the interest form, they will be sent the link to our writing assessment.
  • After the student completes the writing assessment and submits it, our Admissions Team will reach out to the applicant to coordinate a time for their virtual one-on-one interview. The interview is just for the applicant, not the parent or guardian.
  • After both steps are completed, the applicant will receive their decision within one month of their interview by email.
  • If the student currently attends a BCPSS middle school, they should also rank us on their high school choice application. Where we rank on the application is up to the student but if they know they want to attend Bard, they should rank us as #1.

A student’s composite score or GPA is not a factor for admission into Bard Baltimore. Our admissions process takes a more holistic approach to admissions, focusing on qualitative rather than quantitative.
