Letter from Principal Anderson:
Dear Bard DC Families,
As you know, in an attempt to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus in DC, DC Public Schools has closed schools through April 24, moving Spring Break, originally scheduled from April 13-17, to March 17-23. From March 24th to April 23rd, students will engage in Learning from Home, whereby they will complete assignments from their teachers and will be able to engage with them remotely.
Teachers have been planning assignments to be completed remotely and will be sharing them with students shortly via a variety of platforms, including Google Classroom, Canvas, Microsoft 365, and email. These assignments will cover previous and new content in the subject areas. Students are expected to be engaging daily with the material and with faculty members during office hours to get assistance, help, and guidance as needed. Parents and students will also be able to come in to Bard DC to pick up packets on April 6th from 8:30-2:00 pm from Dean Gloor. In order to limit social contact, we urge you to not travel to the building if you are able to access your materials online.
Teachers, admin and staff will be available via email and phone. Teachers will be reaching out to students this week and next with assignments, instructions, and expectations for completion. They will also be making themselves available during office hours. Links to student assignments and teacher contact and office hours will also be made available via an email that we will send out by the end of the week. These links will also be available in the “Academics” tab of our website.
Thank you all for your patience and flexibility during this period of uncertainty. At this time, we expect to reopen on April 27th. If that changes, we will let you know, along with any new guidance we receive from the District.
