Students interested in enrolling in the Bard Early College at Houde Academy must first apply and enroll at the Houde Academy. Interested candidates should register below, and also send an email indicating interest to the office of the Early College. Contact information can be found at the bottom of this page. Qualified students will be required to do a final round onsite interview and writing test with our faculty.

Application Deadline and Notifications

Applications should be submitted by June 28. Applicants will be notified of their status by the end of the spring semester.

Application Requirements

Students interested in applying should be prepared to submit:

  • Zhongkao score
  • TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo assessment (External Only) 
  • High School Year 1 grades
  • Letter of Intent

Application Procedure

All applicants must submit a letter describing their goals and aspirations, academic and otherwise. Applicants should think about answering the question: how will participating in the Bard Early College program help further my ambitions?

External Applicants
External Applicants who are seeking to enter high school year 2 at Houde and join the first year of the Bard Early College program should contact the Early College Office to set up an interview. Interviews for outside applicants are conducted on a rolling basis.

Internal Applicants – Rising Year 1 students
Year 1 Houde students with interest in the Early College should register on campus at the Early College Office. Interviews for the Fall 2018 incoming class will take place on June 2nd. Internal applicants must submit a recommendation from their Year 1 English Teacher speaking to their language ability.
