Prior to teaching, worked as a research and teaching assistant at The Ohio State University. Research focused on the impacts of human disturbances on freshwater ecosystems using a variety of field and lab techniques including fish and invertebrate identification, water quality sampling, and stable isotope analysis. Has published and presented results on the impacts of urban dam removal on riverine food webs. Has worked with undergraduate students in courses like natural resource management, fish biology, religion and the environment, and supported students to design and conduct their research capstone projects.
