From our Principal

Dear Friends,

We are delighted to announce the opening of a new Bard High School Early College in the Bronx, an exciting addition to the Bard High School Early College network, and a third BHSEC campus in New York City. Like the Manhattan and Queens campuses, this school is a partnership between Bard College and the NYCDOE and will provide the opportunity to earn both a high school Regents diploma and an Associate’s Degree in four years, all at no cost to students or families.

We are committed to continuing the legacy of providing a unique model of adolescent education, now specifically for students in the Bronx. We believe that many motivated students are ready to meet the academic challenge of college work at a younger age, especially when offered a rigorous and engaging curriculum and the opportunity to work with a highly qualified and supportive faculty that is committed to teaching.

From our Writing and Thinking Workshops, which will begin the academic year, to our core curriculum Seminar classes to college electives in math, science, the humanities, and art, BHSEC Bronx will uphold the tradition of providing students with a well-rounded liberal arts education. As we launch our new academic program, we remain committed to Bard College’s motto of “A Place to Think” and to helping students develop the necessary skills and behaviors to achieve academic success while also promoting self-discovery and deeper understanding of both their local and world communities.

We look forward to getting to know you and your family and working together to create an exceptional educational experience for our students.

Best regards,

Siska Brutsaert, PhD

Principal, BHSEC Bronx
