The Office of Admission at Bard High School Early College is committed to recruiting highly motivated young adults from all neighborhoods in Newark. It is our goal to provide our students with a challenging liberal arts curriculum that fosters and cultivates their intellectual curiosity and creativity. To ensure the individual success of students in our Early College program, we carefully consider the results of a math and writing assessment before interviewing eligible candidates for admission. We seek to admit those applicants who demonstrate maturity, intellectual curiosity, and a love of learning.
During the first two years of BHSEC Newark’s existence, a class of Year 1 College students will be recruited as students for BHSEC Newark—students who will have completed the tenth grade of high school and are ready and motivated to take on a college course of studies rather than complete a traditional high school program. We will seek students to join BHSEC Newark midway through their high school career as an important piece of establishing the college culture of BHSEC Newark.
The following is required of all students who apply to BHSEC
8th grade students may apply to BHSEC Newark by completing the Newark Public Schools online high school application (CLICK on "for more information" below).
All other students may apply to BHSEC Newark by downloading and completing the application form below (CLICK on "download file").
