Since its founding in 2001, Bard High School Early College has offered New York City public school students an unparallelled educational opportunity. Through a partnership between Bard College and the New York City Department of Education, we make it possible for students to earn both a high school Regents diploma and an Associate’s Degree in four years.
Our program is rooted in a commitment to a different model of adolescent education. We believe that many students are ready to meet the academic challenge of college work at a younger age, especially when offered a curriculum that is rigorous and engaging, and when given the chance to work with a highly qualified and supportive faculty that is committed to teaching.
Located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, our campus is a center of intellectual energy. From our Writing and Thinking Workshops, which begin every academic year, to our First Year Seminar classes, to college electives in math, science, the humanities, or art, all of our students enjoy the benefits of a well-rounded, liberal arts education. Every day, we strive to live up to the Bard College motto "A Place to Think" by emphasizing the critical thinking skills and habits of mind that help students to succeed academically, as well as gain a better understanding of themselves, and their place in the world.
As we approach our 10th anniversary, we remain committed to the idea of "re-inventing high school." We welcome you to join us, or our sister school in Queens. You can begin by exploring our website, coming to an open house, or applying for admission to the 9th grade.
