The Center for Learning and Writing (“CLAW”) provides academic support and interventions for students across all content areas. Students can sign up to meet with one of 80 peer tutors or drop-in to receive support from a tutor during their lunch periods.
CLAW tutors are Y1 and Y2 students selected based on their academic and social-emotional skills. They periodically make visits to classrooms as needed to help with labs, essays, or other specific projects. Additionally, select CLAW Course Assistants (CCAs) provide regular support in specific classes based on professor nomination.
CLAW Director Dr. Shields is available to support with writing, time management, organization, or study habits. She also teaches a pedagogy course for tutors focused on the science of learning. Stop by her desk in room 407 or send her an email if you would like to meet. She is here as a resource to support your academic success at BHSEC!
