Rachel Cho

Lydia received her B.F.A from Herron School of Design in 2018 and her M.F.A from Parsons School of Design in 2020 where she was the receiver of the Oscar Kolin MFA Fellowship. Her visual art practice focuses on painting fictional narratives. She explores topics from her everyday utilizing painting, drawing, and writing to render scenes of fiction in hopes of eliciting the critical imagination of viewers. Lydia has taught at The School of Mindful Education at Springboard Network Inc, The Wheeler Mission, and assisted at Parsons School of Design. Her work has been previously exhibited at Susan Eley Fine Art, and Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen galleries in NYC. She has also exhibited in Brooklyn with ZXY Gallery, Medium Rare Art, and Bushwick Open Studios. She is published in OyeDrum Magazine, Not Real Art online, and Studio Visit Magazine Volume 52.

Edward Curran

Research and teaching interests include 20th century Spanish film, photography, literature, and culture; photography theory and visual literacy; feminist, gender, and sexuality studies. Is deeply invested in project-based learning. While at Cornell, was awarded the Buttrick-Crippen Fellowship from the Knight Institute for developing an object-based writing seminar at the Johnson Museum of Art, which culminated in a student-curated photography exhibition of works from the collection. Served as the Director for the Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies program at the University of Evansville, where he designed a course on queer theory and activism in which students utilized critical frameworks to identify, evaluate, and address disparities affecting the LGBTQ+ community on campus through student-led improvement projects.

He holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University where he specialized in research involving the intersection of K-12 education, queer theory, and transgender studies. Prior to his teaching at Bard, he taught at Murry Bergtraum for six years, and at over three dozen public schools on the Kindergarten through 12th grade levels as an Ambassador Teacher on Rotation. His current research interests involve economics, queer studies, educational access in New York City, and cultural anthropology. He has consulted for a variety of Fortune 500 corporations, multinational non-profits, research universities, and several G20 nations.
