Covid-19 Update

Dear Bard DC Family,

Happy August! It’s hard to believe that the beginning of the school year is right around the corner!

We are excited to be welcoming you all (back) in person on August 30th.  School will meet in person from 9:00 AM to 3:45 PM.  Below is some important information on returning to school this fall.Health and Safety Protocols: We will continue to follow DCPS health and safety protocols. Upon entering the building, all students and staff will be greeted by a health technician who will ask a series of health questions.  All students and staff are required to wear masks in the building at all times.  Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the building and students and staff are encouraged to sanitize their hands frequently.

Immunization Records: All students must have updated immunization forms for required school immunizations.  The COVID-19 vaccination is not required (but strongly encouraged). You can schedule an appointment via DC’s vaccination portal at vaccinate.dc.gov.  Additionally, you can walk into the clinics at Brookland Middle School, Sousa Middle School and Johnson Middle School between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  Please return your completed Universal Health forms to [email protected] or to the Main Office.

Dress Code: Bard DC does not have a school uniform. We encourage our students to freely express themselves as they feel comfortable and in doing so we expect that those choices are made mindfully and respectfully. We expect students to dress tastefully and in ways that respect their peers. The following Bard DC guidelines may help when planning your daily outfits:

● Clothing may not contain offensive languages or images or expose the belly

● Students should remove hats, hoods, durags, bandanas, bonnets, or other headwear (except religious exemptions) when in the school building

● Students are required to abide by the dress code for individual classes including Dance, PE, and Science Labs

Schedules will be available in Aspen by August 23rd.  As a reminder, this year we are moving to an A/B schedule

Writing and Thinking Week: As is our custom, we will usher in the school year with a week of Writing and Thinking and community building in our Advisories from August 30th-September 3rd.  Stay tuned for more information.

Kids Ride Free Cards are available and will be valid until September 30th.  To request a Kids Ride Free card, please complete this form.
