Two BHSEC Queens students share their stories with Students of NYC

“…Every time I experience something good, or read about someone doing good, I know the world can be better.”

Two BHSEC Queens students were featured on Students of NYC, a United Federation of Teachers initiative highlighting the lives and experiences of students in New York City Public Schools. Yareli writes about exploring her cultural identity and finding her way back to a deeper relationship with her Mexican culture. Ethan shares his experience building a network of support that carried him through hard times, and reminded him of the innate goodness of people.

Students of NYC shines a spotlight on students who are shaping a better future for themselves and their communities. Ethan and Yareli are both remarkable students who bravely shared their personal stories.
